A Special St. Brigid’s Celebration

30th Jan 2026

Today our school proudly celebrated the beautiful tradition of making St. Brigid’s crosses. This cherished custom, passed down through generations, reminds us of the strength of community, creativity, and Irish heritage. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning how to weave the rushes and exploring the story of St. Brigid and the symbolism behind her cross.

We extend a heartfelt Go raibh maith agaibh to the wonderful members of our community who generously gave their time to help the children. Your guidance, patience, and enthusiasm made the experience truly special. We are deeply grateful for the connection between school and community, and for the traditions that continue to bring us together.

A special word of thanks also to Fr. McAnenely, who visited for our assembly and blessed the crosses the children made. His presence added a meaningful and memorable touch to our celebration.

Congratulations to Our Award Recipients

  • Cianna  – Winner of the cup, Corn Peggy Kerr
  • Francie – Winner of the St. Teresa’s Shield

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the example they set in our school community. Finally, a huge well done to all the children who participated in our St. Brigid’s cross‑making afternoon. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and creativity helped keep this special tradition alive in our school.
