Gaeilge Gach Lá at Bun Scoil Naomh Treasa

16th Oct 2025

We are delighted to announce that we are continuing with our Scoil Spreagtha Irish language programme this year again, for the 3rd year, at Bun Scoil Naomh Treasa!

We won the gold award (Duais Óir) in June 2024 for our promotion and use of our Irish language. We also received our award for 2025. We are going for 3 in a row this year!

As you know, this valuable scheme promotes the use of the Irish language throughout our school....filtering into our homes.....and indeed into the wider community. It is a joy to hear the children and staff greeting each other each morning and afternoon in Irish each day at school. We say The Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be to the Father in Irish each morning, we do our dinner registers in Irish and we use social language such as please, thank you and excuse me in the Irish language. We compliment each other in Irish. We would be delighted if you asked your children about the Irish words they are learning at school and to use them daily in your homes.

The children love speaking our native tongue to each other and gain a great sense of achievement and satisfaction from knowing that they can speak a second language.
Gaeilge Gach Lá -Speaking a couple of words in Irish everyday at school and home - is our aim at St Teresa's PS.

Ar Scath a chéile a mhaireann na daoine! Working together we thrive.

Let's make the Irish language thrive throughout our whole school community and beyond!
Go Raibh Míle Maith Agaibh!
