P6 Explore Measurement Through Outdoor Learning

21st Apr 2026

Primary 6 pupils have been enjoying hands‑on learning in our outdoor classroom as part of their work on measurement. Taking their learning outside allowed the children to engage in a range of practical and fun activities that brought mathematical concepts to life.

Working collaboratively, pupils measured lengths, distances and objects using a variety of tools, developing their accuracy, problem‑solving skills and confidence. The outdoor environment provided meaningful, real‑life contexts for learning, encouraging discussion, teamwork and independent thinking.

The children thoroughly enjoyed applying their classroom knowledge in a practical way, while staying active and engaged. Outdoor learning continues to be a valuable opportunity to enhance understanding, motivate learners and support well‑being, and P6 embraced the experience with enthusiasm and focus.
