On Thursday, our boys’ football team made the short trip to Galbally to take part in the annual Simon McAleer Memorial Tournament — and what a day it turned out to be!
After a series of challenging group matches, the boys demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience, and determination, earning their place in the Shield Final. There, they faced a strong and skilful side from St. Joseph’s, Galbally. In a thrilling final played in front of a large and supportive crowd, both teams battled bravely, and the match went into extra time. Our boys showed incredible heart and composure under pressure to edge ahead and secure the win, becoming Shield Champions for 2025! It was a truly proud day for everyone involved, and a testament to the hard work and team spirit shown by the boys throughout the tournament.
A sincere thank you to Mr Meenagh, Mr McKeever, Mr Campbell, and the entire staff of St. Joseph’s Galbally for hosting such a well-organised and enjoyable tournament at Pearse Park. As always, we were made to feel welcome and well looked after.
